The Shallow Ford Foundation is excited to partner again with the Muddy River Art Association and bring another Juried Community Art Show & Sale to the Clemmons community. A reception for the public will be held on March 16, 2025,from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Artwork will be showcased in the Magnolia Room and throughout the hallways at the Historic Broyhill. Local artists may now register and submit their artwork for consideration online. Artists, learn more and register below:

ART SALE:
Selected artists will have the opportunity to sell additional pieces of their art during the show. There will be a limited number of 8 ft tables set up in the Magnolia Room of the Broyhill. Tables are first come first serve by reservation and can be reserved when application is submitted for a fee of $15.00.

Judge: Kimberly Varnadoe.
Kimberly Varnadoe holds a BFA in Painting from the University of South Alabama and an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Memphis. A college art teacher since 1986, she was a Professor of Art at Salem College from 1994 to 2022, where she directed the Elberson Fine Arts Center Galleries for over 25 years, curating numerous exhibits. Her artistic practice includes experimental photography, various printmaking techniques, and oil painting, emphasizing the creative process as vital to art. She has participated in international exhibits, including in Shanghai and Ukraine, conducts workshops, offers critique sessions, and exhibits her work extensively in Winston-Salem. Varnadoe has been a member of Artworks Gallery, the longest running co-op gallery in Winston-Salem, since 2003 and serves on several boards, including the Associated Artists of Winston-Salem and the Downtown Arts District Association. She actively supports local artists and community non-profits through her curatorial efforts and volunteer work.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR JURIED SHOW:
Artists must be 18 years and older at the time of submission. Entry Fee: $30 for up to two entries. Fees are due at the time of application and are not refundable. Please note that entering this competition and paying an entry fee does NOT guarantee that your work will be accepted.
All art must be digitally submitted through the digital form, email, or physical mail and must be accepted to be in the show. Artists may submit up to two original works of art. It will be up to the jurors’ discretion to select or reject pieces; both, one, or none of the submissions may be selected.
ARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS:
All works to be hung must be framed (or gallery wrapped) and securely wired, and if subject to damage must be framed under plexiglass or glass. No Sawtooth or clip mounting will be accepted. Please note that a wire-hanging system will be utilized for this exhibit and all wall-hanging pieces must be able to work with this system. Three-dimensional work must sit solidly on a flat surface and should have a sturdy and stable base appropriate to the work. There will be tables set up for three-dimensional pieces. Two-dimensional pieces must not exceed 40 inches in width (including frames), nor weigh more than 40 lbs. Three-dimensional pieces must weigh no more than 50 lbs. We will not accept pieces with two or more panels otherwise known as diptych or triptych.
Types of work that will NOT be considered:
Anything that violates copyright law, anything political, risqué, or inappropriate, items made from or based on kits, commercial patterns, or commercial molds, commercial items purchased and decorated such as t-shirts or other clothing items, or purchased unfinished furniture, porcelain, or pottery, work made by combining commercial objects, classroom or student work (work executed under direct supervision).
