About the Series

The goal of the Bingham Arts Series is to contribute to arts and culture in the Clemmons area. In its second year, the series is offering four visual and performing arts events in 2024-2025. The series is underwritten by the Thad and Mary Bingham Community Fund of the Shallow Ford Foundation. Thad and Mary loved the community and set up a Fund with the Foundation to help it flourish long after their lifetimes. The Bingham Arts Series reflects the Foundation's and the donors' desire for philanthropy to further Clemmons area health and vibrancy. Check back to this page for the latest event information.

Christmas Concert

Upcoming Event:

Christmas Concert

Get into the holiday spirit at a Christmas concert featuring the Winston-Salem Pops Chorus, part of the Bingham Arts Series, a program of the Shallow Ford Foundation on Sunday, December 8th, from 3:00 P.M. – 4:30 P.M. in the Magnolia Room at Historic Broyhill. The Winston-Salem Pops Chorus is a community ensemble consisting of 30 voices, made up of friends and neighbors who specialize in choral arrangements of music from the Big Band era, bebop, early rock and roll, pop music from the 1960s through early 1970s, and a scattering of Broadway show tunes. The Chorus is under the direction of Kevin Mundy, with Robert Rocco serving as the associate director and accompanist.

The WS Pops Chorus is excited to bring their Christmas holiday show, Holiday Songs YULE Love, to the Clemmons community. The show will feature fun, well-loved, and family-friendly Christmas melodies. Additionally, you can look forward to several pieces by The POPouts, a select group of auditioned singers from the larger ensemble, along with various solo performances. Kevin Mundy surveyed chorus members to rate their favorite holiday songs and included the top selections in this year’s repertoire. According to Mundy, this inspired the show’s title explaining, “If they love these songs, we think that 'yule' love them too.”

This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 2:30 P.M. Seating is limited and will be on a first-come, first-seated basis. There will be a brief intermission. The Shallow Ford Foundation is providing hot cocoa and cider from Be Kind Coffee along with cookies.

The event will be held in the Magnolia Room at Historic Broyhill on Sunday, December 3rd, from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. The concert features four local bands/groups showcasing their talent in the form of their favorite Christmas songs.

The Foundation is excited to have performances by Salem College Chorale, Clemmons Moravian Church brass band, New Day Community Church praise band, and Minor Variation, an all-female Christian acapella group at Wake Forest University. Free hot cocoa and cider will be available from Be Kind Coffee along with Moravian cookies provided by the Shallow Ford Foundation.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 2:30 PM. Seating is limited and will be on a first-come, first-seated basis. Performances will be 20-30 minutes each and there will be a brief intermission.

Salem College Chorale: Salem Chorale is the oldest vocal ensemble at Salem College. This ensemble is composed of students of all majors and performs multiple concerts and collaborations each year. During its rich history, the Salem Chorale has traveled to Washington D.C., New York, Greece, and Italy. More recently, the ensemble has performed at Centenary UMC, the Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting in Winston-Salem, and the All-Collegiate Choral Festival sponsored by North Carolina ACDA at Duke University. The ensemble is under the direction of Patrick Schell.

Clemmons Moravian Church Brass Band: Clemmons Moravian Church has been serving the Clemmons community for many years. In the Moravian church, the Band is a integral part of music programming and the rich heritage of band participation. The band plays half-hour preludes of traditional chorales before all lovefeasts and communion services, church festivals, Christmas Eve, the Easter Sunday resurrection service and for funerals when called upon. Rehearsals are held Monday evenings where instruction and instruments are often provided for beginners (no age limits). Minor Variation:
Minor Variation is Wake Forest University's premier all-female Christian a cappella ensemble. They perform at various on-campus events as well as at local churches and community gatherings. They are currently celebrating the release of our latest studio album, “Run to You” that is available on all major streaming platforms! Minor Variation's music-based ministry started in 1998 under the name "Agape" — the Greek word describing love at it's highest caliber — the unconditional love that God has for his children. Before becoming Minor Variation in 2005, the group was also named One Accord. This year,  Minor Variation is celebrating 25 years as a sisterhood dedicated to growing closer together and closer to Christ.
